Thank you for taking a look at our inaugural Resource Guide
for the pet food and treat industry. For those of you familiar
with our quarterly publication focused on pet food processing, this is a break from our standard format.
We've spent the first two years of our publication's existence
learning in large part about the industries pet food intersects
and how pet food and treat processing is unique from those
other industries, such as baking and snack manufacturing
and meat and poultry processing. This issue is intended to
provide a broad look at the pet food and treat industry and
includes information on a variety of resources supporting the
success of manufacturers and brands.
Pet Food Processing commissioned an industry study to
learn from processors what their outlooks are for this sector, what capital expenditures they have planned and what
challenges they face. With key market insights from leading
research firms, we've included a broad look at the industry's
performance to date. The US Census recently released
initial data on dog and cat food manufacturing from the 2017
Economic Census and we've included some of that new infomation as well.
In addition to profiles of leading industry brands, this
issue includes an overview of those associations supporting
pet food processors and suppliers and how they serve their
members. Rounding out this issue is information on a variety of resources offering the promise of a competitive advantage, one of which being certification programs providing
the opportunity for brand claims that consumers may favor.
Another is an overview of several accelerator resources with
expertise in pet food and a focus on rapid growth.
